It's the worlds first in frame alarm, this audible alarm fits inside the handlebar and becomes the first electronic security system to become an integral part of the bike and has been specifically designed that way by cyclists for cyclists. With cycle theft on the increase all cyclists should be encouraged to fit a deterrent to their bikes but with the option of retaining the bike's original looks, as the alarm fits inside the frame, it gets full protection from accidental and deliberate damage. Evnatech Cymru Cyf who have designed and Patented the system, spent two and a half years on research, development and testing, this included in depth trials and discussions with dedicated cyclists before the system was perfected. The prototype of this alarm won the Welsh Development Agency Innovation Award for 2001, this then gave us the confidence to proceed into full-scale production. Winning the award created interest from distributors, cycle manufacturers, the Police and cyclists. This lightweight, compact system weighs in at 50 grams including the batteries, this of course means that it will not interfere with the balance of the bike when its ridden. The alarm has been designed to be fitted in seconds yet it's very difficult to remove from the frame. Operating the alarm is simple, insert the dedicated key to arm the system and repeat this to disarm. The current system is designed to fit cycles, scooters, quad bikes and motorcycles with straight or riser handlebars with an inside diameter of 17.5-19.5mm, work has already started on a drop handlebar version. The fact that it is powered by batteries housed within the system gives it flexibility to be used for a variety of other purposes. The Shadow is the first in a range of bike accessories to be launched by the company.
